About:240-hour Visa-free Transit in Beijing, Tianjin & Hebei

Limits to 72 or 144 hour visa?

If my family and I fly from US to Beijing to Hong Kong and then from Hong Kong to Shanghai to US, could we essentially have two 72-hour or 144 hour visas?

Yes of course. Note that you are not getting a visa, you are transiting without a visa.
