About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Different airports?

Is it possible to fly from Hongkong into Kunming on airline A and within 144 hours from Chengdu to Europe (with a confirmed booking on airline B) or do I already need the boarding pass?

You don't need a boarding pass, but you do need a visa. You won't qualify for 144 hours transit without visa.
