About:240-hour Visa-free Transit in Shanghai, Zhejiang, and Jiangsu

Returning to Shanghai for 3 days

I have a valid business visa to be in SH for 5 days, but then will fly to Yangon to see family and want to come back for a short sightseeing stay in SH for 2-3 days. I understand I cannot hold two visas at once, so am wondering if I can return to SH on the 144 day free visa?

I will buy a round trip ticket to-from NY to SH, and a round trip ticket to/from SH to Yangon...so will be able to show immigration my return to NY when I enter the country again.

It depends on your nationality and your exact route. I didn't know that there is a non-stop flight from Shanghai to Yangon. If you stop in China you need a visa.

Michele, i am a US citizen. The flight from yangon transfers in hong kong then onto SH...one ticket purchase but two flights. Then i have another ticket to go from SH to Ny. why is this not eligible for 144 hour visa free transit?

USA-SH-Hong Kong-Yangon does qualify for 144 hours visa free transit. You didn't give the full information in your original post, you didn't mention the stop in Hong Kong and it's this that makes it valid.
