About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Assigned seat necessary, and also printed tickets?

Hello, I'm from the UK and will be flying into Beijing from Hong Kong on China Southern Airlines, sightseeing in Beijing on 72- or 144-hour twov, and then going from Beijing to UK (London) on British Airways. However, British Airways does not give a seat assignment in advance, only when you check in electronically 24 hours before the Beijing-London flight. Do I have to have a seat assignment in advance in order to qualify for 144-hour twov? Also, do I have to have printed tickets, or can they just be e-tickets in my e-mail or on my mobile phone? Thanks for your help.

You don't need a seat assignment. It's highly recommended to print your e-ticket on paper unless you're happy with temporarily surrendering your phone to various officials along your route.
