About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

denied a visa recently wish to know if i still qualify for a 72 hour visa

hi
in have recently applied for entry permit into Guangzhou via the Chinese Consulate and i was denied entry permit due to my criminal history.
Does this also mean i am unable to enter Guangzhou on the 72 hour twov?

There is no 72 hour visa. Only a 72 hour visa free transit. If you were denied a visa it may be best idea to transit through a different country.

can you please elaborate on that?

just to confirm, i am trying to get into Guangzhou for the Canton Fare, so this is my reason for entry into china. i also have a letter of invite if that makes any difference

According to the Ministry of Public Security, those with "visa refusal stamps" are not allowed to enter China under the TWOV program unless they have obtained a new passport. Personally, I have never seen what that stamp looks like (or whether it exists at all) but that's them official rules.
