About:Shanghai Pudong Airport

what do we do after arriving Shanghai Pudong Airport terminal with a 24hrs. layover?

we are going manila Philippines from Canada via china air, layover 24hrs at shanghai pudong, we plan to take hotel inside airport, what do we need to do after arriving at the terminal? do we still need to pass by customs or just wait at the boarding gate the next day coming from the hotel?

You need to leave the transit area and check in the hotel. Thus you need to apply for the stay permit when you arriving at the airport. Complete the "embarkation/disembarkation card", together with your travel documents, boarding pass for the onward connecting flight and travel itinerary, go to the inspection counter of China Immigration Inspection to apply for 24h stay permit.
