London - Beijing - London

Hi, my boss is going to Beijing for a one day business meeting and then straight back to London i.e. depart London 13th March, arrive in Beijing (+1day) on 14th March, business meeting and dinner, then back home to London on 15th March - both direct flights no stop-overs, would this be ok for the 144 hour transit without needing a visa? thanks
