About:Chinese Temporary Residence Permit

Residential permit for s1 visa holder

I came to china on S1 that was sent by my daughter, now immigration office wants my daughter's university to get this process done. University is denying to do this process for the student's family. How long can i stay in china without work permit or my s1 will get expired after 30 days?
sorry not work permit its residential permit i wanted to ask.

If you have valid S1 type, you can get the Chinese residence permit after your entry to China. When you prepare all required documents, you can go to the exit and entry administration of the local PSB to apply for it.
