About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Visa required if exiting by train

Do I need a visa for China if entering by plane and then exiting via the TransMongolian railway? I know there is a 72 hour free transit but unsure if applies to train and also if I need to have exited the country by 72 hours or just have started the journey? Thanks

You need a visa. Only Beijing West Railway Station is a valid port of exit by train.
