How can i change my spouse and children S2 visas to S1

I am a student here in China, i have X1 visa and a resident permit of 4 years. I invited my husband and kids to stay with me here in China, they applied for S1 but were given S2. I want them to stay with me for more than 180 days. so is it possible to convert their S2 to S1 here in China.

It's possible to do the conversion at the exit and entry administration of the local PSB within China. Just give it a try.
