international high school student passport expiration concern

Question

I am hosting an International Student whose passport expires in July (less than 6 months from now) and she is unable to book her flight home. What does she have to do to renew her passport? We live in RI-so it looks like we would go to NY to the Consulate/Embassy Office. What will she need to bring with her to get this renewed?

Hi, first, make an online appointment for the application.Prepare the passport and its copy, a completed application form, and passport-style photos, ID card, residence permit in the US, an introduction letter as well as other documents the consular officers consider necessary, and then submit the application to the embassy or the consulate where she resides.
