About:FAQ of Chinese Visa Application

Is it not necessary to have visas for China for this travel?

We are going on a cruise starting in Hongkong (16.03.2019), reaching Tianjin (24.03. - 26.03.2019), after having visited Taiwan and South Korea, then reaching Shanghai Baoshan (28.03.2019) for leaving China and going back to Frankfurt/Germany.

Is it not necessary to have visas for China for this travel?
Does the 144 really apply?

You will need a visa for this trip if you are arriving from south korea to beijing then leaving to jeju island in south korea before heading on to shanghai.
The reason is that you have arrived from south korea into china then returning to south korea instead of a third/different country eg.germany.
