About:10-year China Visa for US and Canadian Citizens

10 Year Visa Major Purposes - and Study

If I obtain a 10 year visa (as a Canadian) for tourism purposes, would I be correct in ticking "Tourism", "Non-business visit", and "Transit" for major purposes?

In the future, I also intend to spend a year (well 6 months, then renew for 6 more months) studying at a school in Qufu (they support the application process). If I have my 10 year entry permit, and then get the study entry permit, will my 10 year one be cancelled? Will I have to apply again? Or will the visas overlap for the duration of my study, and revert to my tourism l after my study x expires?

IIRC you only need to ticket one box so toruism would suffice. Your 10-year visa will be cancelled when your study visa is issued, however. Also be aware that Canadians' 10-year visas will only be valid for the life of your passport.
