About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Visa requirements for cruise arriving Shanghai/post-cruise?

Good morning. Here are our travel details:
February 22 - arrive on cruise to Shanghai early morning; one-day tour scheduled; return to ship to overnight
February 23 - disembark ship early morning; transfer to hotel in Shanghai for three nights to explore (Shanghai only)
February 26 - depart at PVG at 4:30 p.m. non-stop direct to EWR (Newark)

What do we (three travelling on US passport; one travelling on Canadian passport) need to do?

You are eligible for 144h twov in Shanghai. You need to inform the airlines that you want to use the 144 hour free transit in Shanghai. After arriving, you can go to the transit counter to apply for the 144 hour free transit.
