Overstayed by mistake - how long will it take to get an exit visa?
Hi
I came in on an S1 and registered at police station the next day and received a certificate which I thought was a residence permit.
Went to airport to fly home to my country and was told that I had not applied for the right document and could not leave. I had technically overstayed by 66 days.
I found the correct PSB and signed a document apologising and agreed to pay the 10,000 fine, however they said I have to apply for an exit permit.
1. How long does an exit visa application normally take?
2. My passport is due to expire on 1 july 2019 - will this be a problem?
I should add that I don't want to re-apply to come back, just want to leave.
