About:240-hour Visa-free Transit in Shanghai, Zhejiang, and Jiangsu

Do stops on your flight invalidate the Visa Exemption in Shanghai?

Flying from Newcastle in U.K. to Shanghai, however there is a 3 hour layover in Dubai. We leave Shanghai by cruise ship 2 days after arriving. All seems to comfortably fit into the Exemption criteria, but I have this niggle that the Chinese authorities take our entry to China from the UAE and not the U.K.? Don’t think the UAE are part of the 51 countries with Exemption status?

It's your nationality that has to be from one of the 53 countries, not your flight.
