About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Do I need a visa? I am traveling from the US to Thailand with a 22 hour layover in Beijing.

I would like to leave the airport to do some sight-seeing while in Beijing, do I need a visa? If so, do I need to apply for it before I leave or do I get the 24 hour visa at the airport upon arrival in Beijing?

As long as Beijing is the only landing in China then you can use the 24 hour Transit without visa. Should be no problem leaving the airport, just bring copy of hotel reservation.
