About:240-hour Visa-free Transit in Beijing, Tianjin & Hebei

France - Hong Kong (transit) - Beijing - Hong Kong

Hello!
I am flying from France to Beijing via Hong Kong (just a 2hour transit stop) and then 3 days later from Beijing to Hong Kong where I will stay for few days. Am I eligible for visa-free transit in Beijing? Thanks.

You are not in transit at Beijing, so you're not eligible for visa-free transit. You need a visa or different flights.

Are you sure? Am I not considered as coming from France? My booking reference says "Flight: Paris to Beijing". I am a bit confused.

Here's what I got from IATA website:
"Nationals of France with a confirmed onward air, cruise or train ticket to a third country within 144 hours, starting from 00:01 on the day following the day of entry. They must:
- arrive at and depart from one of the following locations: Beijing (PEK), Tianjin (TSN), Shijiazhuang (SJW), Beijing West Railway Station, Tianjin International Cruise Home Port or Qinhuangdao Sea Port; and
- have documents required for the next destination.".
I am still confused.

The way the exemption works is the country you land in mainland china from cannot be the next country the plane departs to. It needs to be a different country. Where you start and ultimately ends is not taken into account. Even though you don't leave the airport in Hong Kong is still viewed as Hong Kong > Beijing > Hong Kong thus ineligible.
