About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Checking Eligibility

I possess a China multi entry visa but my travelling companion is travelling with me to China and Seoul. She holds an Irish passport. We believe she is eligible for a free transit as her itinerary is:

Journey One
Jan 2nd arrive in Shanghai PVG from London Heathrow UK
Jan 4th leave Shanghai hongqiao to Seoul

UK—-China—Korea

Journey Two
Jan 6th arrive in Shanghai Hongqiao from Seoul airport
Jan 9th leave Shanghai PVG to London Heathrow UK

Korea—-China—-UK

This is the very definition of what a transit visa is for so we are hoping for no difficulties. However my experience is to always triple check.

Will we need to notify the airlines as we check in in both Korea and the UK?

This thread has been an incredible resource thank you so much.

You have it correct. Both of those are valid Transits as long as those shanghai stops are the only mainland Chinese landings.

Don't use the word visa though as that will cause confusion as the Visa Free Transit aka Transit Without Visa is not a visa.
