About:240-hour Visa-free Transit in Shanghai, Zhejiang, and Jiangsu

Staying in SHANGHAI for for 5 days, then traveling to HK for 4 days, then back to SH

I have a visa to stay in China but it is for one entry only which I am visiting a friend in SH. I am then potentially flying to Hong Kong, but then have to fly back to SH before returning to Australia. Can I use this transit visa when leaving Hong Kong to SH for 3 days before returning to Australia?

Your route is SH-HK-SH-Australia, right?
If yes, you don't qualify for the 144 hours visa free policy.

No I have a visa for the first time I enter SH. Can I apply for the 144hr visa when returning to Australia from HK. So the route will be HK-SH-AU?
