About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Am I entitled to the 144 visa free transit?

I’m flying in to Shanghai from UK via Abu Dhabi on 1st February 19 and boarding a cruise ship on 3rd February 19. Does the 144 hour free transit document cover me. How do I apply and is it straightforward. Thank you
