About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Transit for Syrian

Hi, I'm a Syrian national but also holding a US travel document, I'm traveling using my Syrian passport as my US travel document does not have enough validity (expires in Feb 2019). I have a 4:15hrs stop/layover in Shanghai PVG airport with my Russian girlfriend on our way to Los Angeles (she has a US visa). We are NOT intending of leaving the airport.
Does any of us need a transit g?
I booked the ticket with 24hrs free cancellation so I'd really appreciate your quick reply.

Thank you,
Ghassan

Your girlfriend will not have any problens to use the 24h twov, for you it's maybe a problem.
It seems they lifted the ban for syrian passport holders to use the 24h twov but I can't confirm it.
You should contact the immigration at Shanghai airport, that's the only way you can get a proper answer.

The ban is still intact in Guangzhou but not in Shanghai according to Timatic. Regardless, you should probably avoid any connection whatsoever if possible, before some over-vigilant airline employee arbitrarily refuses boarding (which seems to be common with some Chinese carriers).
