About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

I hold a Canadian passport, and I’ll be visiting Taiwan in December then Shanghai in January

In this case, Is it possible to apply a 144 hours free transit for shanghai? My plan is to fly back to Taiwan after Shanghai. thank you!

Eligibility is determined by country immediately before and after the Chinese city. You cannot fly Taiwan > China > Taiwan without a visa regardless of your start and end points. You would have too for example fly to Hong Kong before flying back through Taiwan.
