About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

We are booked on a cruise ship ending with a two day stop in Hong Kong and then to Shanghai.

We arrive at 5:00 am and we have a flight out to the USA that afternoon. We fly to Chicago but others in our group have a stopover to change planes in Hong Kong Would we all still be ok with the 24hr twov. And where would we get the paper work to show anyone who might ask us for the twov?

Hong Kong-Shanghai-Chicago will be fine for applying the free transit in HK, but HK-Shanghai-HK won't qualify for the free transit. You can apply for the twov at the immigration counter after your arrival by showing passport and onward tickets.
