About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Thailand to Chengdu

Hello, I would like to visit chengdu and the panda bear tours. Then fly back to Thailand. Will I need entry permit being that I'm visiting for a tour and not transiting? Or can I get away with the 72 hour transit? I only want to stay for about 48 hours specifically for the bears then back to Thailand. I am a US national with a US passport.

You will need a visa if its Thailand > Chengdu > Thailand. You need a third country in there
