Multi entry S2 visa

Hi, I have an S2 for 180 days that is a multi entry one good for 12 months. I just tried to get a new one with the assumption that my visa would be expired soon due to the fact that I was in China for nearly 180 days, but the guy at the Chinese application office (I'm in Bangkok to do this) said that I have 180 days from each visit. It really confused me, so I just want to see if y'all know anything further regarding this.

They are correct. Within the 12 months of your S2 type's validity, you can enter China for many times and after each entry, you can stay in there for up to 180 days.
