You can take gifts less than CNY2,000, which is about $290. As for the tax, it depends on which kind of gifts you will take.

I’m bringing between $300 & $400 worth of Zippo lighters and women’s wallets or purses,all are gifts.

Generally, the tax rate of wallets and purses is 10% but I'm not sure about the lighters.
