Can I use the 144 hour twice within a short time

My ideal itinerary would be fligth from Amsterdam to Bejing, 3 days, bullet train to Hong Kong, 5 days, bullet train to Shanghai 3 days, fligth to Amsterdam. As far as I understand the rules, going to Hong Kong via Bejing this way and going back via Shanghai would work. But would it work back to back?
