About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

We have purchased tickets: Vilnius (Republic of Lithuania) - Beijing (transfer) Beijing-Sydney and back. The crux is that my flight bookings are completely separate and with different airlines. Connections are not longer than 72 hours. I would like to ask whether such a flight will be treated transit or the need to obtain visas?
