About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Hong Kong visit on 72 Hrs Visa

I am travelling from Delhi to Melbourne via Guangzhou. I would be staying in Guangzhou for a couple of days on 72 Hrs free transit. Just wondering if I am allowed to visit Hong Kong for a day trip? I will be travelling on an Australian passport. Pls, advise.

Thanks, Ajay

Yes, you can visit Hong Kong for a day trip under 72 hours transit without visa (there is no "72 hrs transit visa") if you travel by air.

72 hour transit without visa does not allow you to leave the Guangdong Province so you will need a visa to leave to Hong Kong and come back to Guangzhou.

You could fly Delhi-Guangzhou-Hong Kong-Guangzhou-Melbourne and transit without visa twice. But you can't travel by land without a visa.
