about china visa S2

hello i am a student in china with resident permit my wife and my son are coming in china with S2 for 30 days after entry can that visa be extend to resident permit? i would like them to say in china for more than 1 year how to do?

The S2 type holders cannot apply for Chinese residence permit. But they can try to convert the S2 into S1 at the exit and entry administration of the local PSB within China. If it can be done, they can apply for the residence permit.
