Taking a engagement ring through Hong Kong

Can I take an engagement ring through Hong Kong for me to propose to my soon to be fiancée in the Philippines. Do I need to claim it in China customs and pay duty?
I'm just going to be there for a short time my layover is about 2. 1/2 hours

No, if you just transfer there, you don't need to pay any duty to China customs.
