China round trip

Hi, we are planning a round trip through china next year which requires a L visa. Is it enough to show the cities we want to see and the duration of each stay or do we really need a booking in advance for each hotel? What happens if we miss a train or stay one day longer on an interesting place for example?

We have some former working colleagues and they can give us a invitation letter (visiting a fried). But then we can not travel though the country?

Personally I think it's enough to show the cities you want to see and the duration of each stay. If you can get the invitation letter from your friend in China, there is no need to provide the round trip air tickets, hotel reservation for the application.
