How can I be sure I'll be granted the 144-hour visa free transit in Beijing?
I have a US passport, traveling from US to PEK, touring Beijing for 4 days, then flying out to the Philippines. After 2 weeks, I'm traveling from the Philippines to PEK (airport stopover only), and then back to the US. Because the 144-hour visa-free transit was implemented less than a year ago, I'm a little scared to enter BJ without a visa, relying only on "applying" for the 144-hour visa-Free transit when I arrive in BJ.
What if they don't grant me the 144-hour visa-free transit in BJ? Will they send me back to the US, or will they at least let me move on to my next country (Philippines)? I already asked the Chinese Embassy, and they said to talk to the airline (China Air). The airline's own website mentions the 144-hour visa-free conditions. Should I apply and pay for a transit visa (G) just in case?
