Do I need an invitation letter to apply for tourist visa?

Hi, I am a Filipino and is currently residing in Oman. I need to go to Oman for canvassing of materials on the wholesale market. I can provide for a round trip ticket and hotel booking. Do I need to show an invitation letter?
