i'm going to arrive in guangzhou from one airline (egyptair from cairo)

and leave from another (Cathay Dragon to Hong Kong).Will I have to collect luggage and check in again?Actually, I'm hoping I have to get the luggage since the layover is much too long and I'm thinking of skipping the second flight and just taking the train.

In general, if two airlines have the through luggage service, you don't need to collect your luggage when you transfer in Baiyun Airport. But if you do not want to take the connecting flight, you'd better consult the airlines clearly. if you give up your second flight, you may be denied entry.
