are we eligible for 2 transit visas?

Question

Arriving Pudong direct from Sydney and departing on cruise to Japan within 24hrs. Seven days later arrive back at Shanghai cruise terminal and then spend 4 days in Shanghai before non stop return flight to Sydney. The way I see it is I will have to get a 24hr direct transit when we arrive and then a 144hr free transit at the cruise terminal. Will this work? Thanks for any help

Hi Dean. We are planning a similar trip. Sydney to Shanghai. Stay 3 days then on a 5 day cruise to Japan and then back to Shanghai for 3 days and then back to Sydney. I think I qualify for the 144 hour twov on both entries to Shanghai as I have a forwarding ticket on both occasions to a 3rd country. It seems to me that when we arrive at Shanghai airport we will be leaving the country on the cruise and setting foot in a 3rd country.(Japan) We then get back on the ship and enter Shanghai and possess onward tickets to Sydney. Thanks Darryl, I guess the only issue is getting the transit Visa twice. Once at PVG and then at the end of the cruise at the wharf disembarkation point. It's a lot of stuffing around but then so is getting the full Visa before we go
