About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

German passport holder traveling from Amsterdam to Australia

Hi guys,
we are confused about the need of a TWOV or not, because of so many different stories.

What we did is booking 2 different flights to get a cheaper price.

About our route:
Booking 1:
Amsterdam -> Vienna -> Beijing

Booking 2:
Beijing -> XiAn (China) -> Melbourne -> Adelaide

Question: As we have to pickup luggage at Beijing, go through customer service and re check-in, do we need any (tourist) visa or would it be enough and is our route eligible for a 24 TWOV?

Thx in advance.

The route is fine for 24 hours transit without visa. I just hope you have plenty of time at Beijing before your flight to Xi'an.
