About:Chinese Embassies and Consulates

Which Visa should I apply if I’m going to work 4months only in China.

Hi there, I wish you could help me.

I am holding a Malaysian passport and currently being offered a 4months project to work in China.

But I’m not sure what are the procedures are in order to let my company in China to prepare the documents and what documents required from my side.

I saw from the website that I could apply for Z but the validity would be 30 days. And then transfer my visa to a working permit? Is it correct? Which documents should I prepare before flying over and for Z?

Does the said company require to apply for anything before me applying a Z in Malaysia?

Your advice will be very helpful.

Thank you very much.

You can ask your employer to provide you the work permit. After you get it, you should first prepare those documents including your passport and copy of its data page, a completed application form, a recently-taken passport-style photo, and a work permit from your employer, and then go to the CAVSC to apply for work Z type. After you enter mainland China with the work Z type, you can apply for a Chinese residence permit which has usually 3 months or more validity and multiple entries.
