Changing airlines in Shanghai

I plan to fly from LAX to SHA on American Airlines, and on the same day fly from SHA to MAN using China Eastern. On my return, I plan to fly from MAN to SHA on China Eastern, stay for just over 6 days (but leave within 144 hours of midnight on my day of arrival), then fly from SHA to LAX on American Airlines. I believe I would qualify for the 144 hour transit visa but would like to confirm. Thank you.
