About:China Visa Renewal and Extension

also where shall i contact to do so (a government organization, a bureau etc)?

I wuld appreciate if someone can answer me if it's possible to change my M status into student and how much would it cost?

That's possible. You can try to do the conversion at the exit and entry administration of the local PSB within China.
