Question

We (US passports) are flying on the same ticket from Lax to Chongqing then to Guangzhou. From there we are on another ticket to Thailand. When we come out of the international terminal in Chongqing can we get a 24 or 72 hour TWOV in Chongqing to use in Guangzhou or do we have to get that in Guangzhou? When would our 24 clock start on landing in Chongqing or Guangzhou? We have an 11 hour layover in Chongqing and would like to make our layover in Guangzhou longer to tour that area as well. Any thoughts or suggestions?

Two stop immediately limits you to 24 hours in China unless you have a visa. You clear Chinese immigration in Chongqing, and continue on your domestic flight. Your flight out of China must be scheduled to leave Guangzhou within 24 hours of your scheduled arrival time in Chongqing.
