TLV-CTU-KMG-BKI on 72-Hour Visa-Free transit

I would like to book a flight from Israel to Chengdu, spend a day or two in Chengdu, and then fly from Chengdu to Malaysia. But the flight from Chengdu to Malaysia has a stopover in another Chinese city (either Kunming or Shenzhen). Can I do this with a 72-Hour Free transit obtainable on arrival at Chengdu? I have a UK passport. Thank you.

You cannot. Two stops in China immediately limits you to 24 hours visa-free transit.
