About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Can I immediately go from Country C and back to Country A on the same day?

I'm wondering if this itinerary would work:

TPE-PEK-HKG-TPE.

Q1: Can PEK-HKG and HKG-TPE be the same day (or do i need to stay in HKG at least 1 night) ?

Q2: Is everything all on one reservation okay (or do I need to book HKG to TPE separately to hide that I don't really want to go to HKG?)

1) Doesn't matter, as Mainland Chinese immigration has no control over where you are going once you've left.
2) Both are fine as long as they can confirm your first stop outside Mainland China is not Taiwan.

So for HKG-TPE...Would I still need to go through HK immigration and HKG airport security after I arrive to HKG?

No, you don't. As stated above, Chinese immigration don't care what you do after you leave.

I read on the internet that I might be denied a 144 hour free transit because I was born in Beijing?

They say "Certain ethnic Chinese born in certain places at a certain time need to enter China using travel permits. " Is this true?
