The Permanent resident question

Hello! im here in China for almost one year but we already are running into trouble!
Nobody seems to know the law correctly or the information about it!
Please help me!
My question is I'm under a Q1 visa and i intend of keeping this until i complete the 5 years.
After that it gets terrible because nobody knows for sure.
Some websites/persons say that i need 200.000 RMB in my bank account to get the PR.
My second question is '' Ok after getting my Permanent Residence i still need to make a Work permit because i'm not allowed to work even having the PR..what is required to get a work permit?
Thank you very very much!

You have to call the Entry and Exit Administration office at where your spouse's household registration (hukou) is located for details regarding the application as the requirements, especially on proof of funds, vary by region. Although they do change periodically so there's no point asking them at this stage since it's still your first year.

The blanket rule is that before getting your PR, you cannot legally work under a Q1 visa/corresponding resident permit and must get a Z visa outside China (some offices may allow you to change status within the country but don't count on it). Once your PR application is submitted, you must continue to renew the permit you have at the time of application until approval. Whatever temporary permit you hold will eventually be canceled when PR is granted so you do not need (and cannot get) a work permit to work after getting PR. That does NOT mean you won't be facing other difficulties finding work, it simply means that you can look for pretty much all work that are available with your PR ID card and nothing else (legally the card triumphs a foreign passport but don't expect everyone to know the rules).
