About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

USA to Shanghai to Thailand

Hi, I'll be flying into Shanghai from LA (USA passports). We plan to stay in Shanghai for 5 days and fly to Bangkok. Will this qualify for the 144 hour transit?
