Thank you for your reply. Please may I know why I need a visa when I have a residence permit in China? Is Hong Kong part of China? Please, can't preference or consideration be giving to Nigerians (me) as a foreign experts even for 3days to explore or visit, since it's about just 25mins to Hong Kong from my base and return even in a day?

Hk is considered as a third region from mainland China, you cannot use mainland visa to visit hk. If you want to go to HK, you need a visa then.
