About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

French citizen, UK resident, giving a business talk in Shanghai

I will fly into SHA from Melbourne (Australia), land on a Wednesday morning at Pu Dong, and fly out exactly 27h later on Thursday morning, from SHA to Seoul, South Korea. So MEL > PVG then SHA > GMP 27 hours later.
While in Shanghai, I will give a talk at a conference (business, not academic), and I already have a hotel booked for the Wednesday night.
Can I do this without a visa, only with the 144 hours TWOV?
Many thanks
