What happens if...?

What happens if one has a return ticket to the country from which one arrived into China plus a ticket onward to a third country and at emigration one presents boarding pass for 3rd country but board flights to original?

This kind of plan might have worked years ago, but not now. It is an extremely bad idea to try to deceive Chinese police. The consequences will be very unpleasant and expensive. You will be caught, detained, fined and banned from future visits to China.
