About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

UK citizen 3 days in Shanghai

Will I require a visa if I am travelling from Manchester via DUB, PRG, XIY then 3 days in Shanghai and onto Bangkok (all one booking). I believe this is okay as I have Hotel proof, flight exit itinerary and a valid UK passport.

Is this correct or would I require additional documentation?

If your route is PRG-XIY-SHA-BKK then you will require additional documentation, namely a Chinese visa. Two stops in China (XIY and SHA) means you don’t qualify for 144 hours transit without visa.

Okay thanks, so if I choose a different route which entered Shanghai with no previous transfer in China I would qualify?

This explains why this option is rather cheap, lol.

Correct. Country A-China-Country B with no other stops.
